WESTERN REGIONAL CHAPTER OF GAPHTO GOES TO POLLS TOMORROW
The Ghana Association of Public Health Technical
Officers (GAPHTO) chapter of the Western Region will tomorrow December 18, 2018
organize its General Elections to select new Regional Executives for the next
four years.
Since its inception in 1984 as Public Health Technical
Officers Group (PUHTOG) and inauguration in 2006 as GAPHTO, the association has
not been vivacious in the Western Region.
In recent times, the outgoing Regional Executives have been likened to H.E Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo
(President of Equatorial Guinea) since they hold records as the longest serving Executives in the history of GAPHTO.
Although, nominations were opened for six positions,
members in the twenty-two Health Administrative districts filed for President (One
Candidate), Vice President (Two Candidates), Secretary (Two Candidates) and
Treasurer (One candidate). The position of Vice Secretary and Public Relations
Officer were not contested.
Below is a brief profile of the various Contestants:
1 PRESIDENT:
MR MACJONAS KAMBE

MacJonas is a Public Health Officer (HI). He is stationed at Prestea-Huni Valley Municipal as the Municipal Health Information Officer. He filed for the position not for the sake of the position
but as a sense of duty, commitment and sacrifice to ensure GAPHTO is revamped
in the Western Region. Electorates will vote YES or NO for his candidature.

JOSEPH W. K. FIAGBE

Mr. Fiagbe is a Public Health Officer (Disease Control) who
currently works at the Suaman District Health Directorate as District Disease
Control Officer. When given the chance to serve, Mr Fiagbe promises to build a
vibrant-led-Association in the region which will involve every Tom, Dick and
Harry. His motto is Together, We can!!! He is number one the ballot.

ABRAHAM KOYAARA

Mr. Koyaara is a trained Disease Control Officer
working as Municipal TB Coordinator at Sefwi Wiawso Municipality. Among other
things he envisions to strengthen the grassroots for more robust GAPHTO in the
region. He also seeks to maintain probity, accountability and transparency. His
campaign team have the motto; Strengthening the grassroots, the only way of
reinvigorating GAPHTO Western Region. He is number 2 on the ballot.

PRINCE ISHMAEL DIMAH

Dimah is the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Nutrition Officer. He says he will
be accountable and transparent. According to him, when given the nod, he will
help resolve members issues with Allied Health Professions Council. He stands
number 2 on the ballot paper.
TREASURER:
MISS SANDRA OPARE-ANSAH
Sandra is a Nutrition
Officer at Ahanta West Municipal Health Directorate. She is contesting unopposed.
Her campaign team says she is tried and tested leader with humility, good
interpersonal relation skills, hardworking and dedicated professional with charisma. Voters will choose a YES or NO for her.
In an interview with Mr Kwame Brenyah, a member of the Electoral
Committee (EC), the voting will be done electronically at WR GAPHTO ELECTION HEADQUARTERS where members will be given
unique voter IDs and voter keys.
He entreated all members of GAPHTO in the
region to contact him on 0242770660 or any of the EC committee members for their unique particulars to enable
them exercise their franchise tomorrow from 07:00 to 17:00.
