AUDIO: MERQURY QUAYE REFUTES BRIBERY ALLEGATIONS IN GHANA DJ AWARDS

Last Saturdy, Melody Fm's own DJ Bibini was crowned Best DJ in the Western Region after beating his compatriots DJX, DJ Berry, DJ Oxygen, DJ Acidic, DJ Magnus and Majik George.

It will be recalled that prior to the event which was held at Silver Star Tower in Accra, West Gold Radio's DJ Tablet who was nominated in the Western Region Best DJ Categroy was replaced with DJ Bibini by the organizers.

It is being speculated that DJ Bibini paid a sum of Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 2,000.00) to the organizers to get his name on the list and also rig the results in his favour.

The allegation is currently trending on Facebook with some DJs in the oil city throwing weight behind the rumour.

Ntukwadze Breda Porsh who is lead DJ at Paragon FM wrote on his Facebook wall: "Congrats DJ Bibini. Now I believe in magic n witchcraft n also in parlance; Better late than never..."

But in an exclusive interview with MADEINTAADIMerqury Quaye who is the CEO of Merqury Republic and also Promoter of the Rush Ghana DJ Awards has denied the allegations stating that he did not even know DJ Bibini in person until the awards night.

Responding to why DJ Tablet's name was removed from the list, he said: "The Organizers begins by shortlisting people for each category and do a research and keep cutting down until they have a certain number of nominees per category. So it appeared [in the Western region category] there was an error when the shortlisting was done. A name that was not supposed to be on the list appeared on the list. Let's call that a typo error or mechanical error. So it was corrected"

He further stated that, DJ Tablet was dropped because the organizers thought DJ Bibini was better qualified than DJ Tablet.

"If you want to argue about the DJ whose names appeared on first [DJ Tablet], the question will be give reasons why that DJ is a better candidate than DJ Bibini": he added.

He further stated without equivocation that it was not possible for any of the nominees to pay bribe to him to win an award, since the panel of judges were credible people.

"Are you going to bribe Mark Okraku Mantey, Are you going to bribe Mr Humaboss Kanzey, Are you going to bribe Hubert Anti, Are going to bribe Mr Adu Gyamfi known as Killer fingers, Are you going to America and go and bribe Ras Pakari, Are you going to bribe Joss?" he quizzed.
